The Navi Mumbai Metro project is part of the rapid transit rail system for the city.

When Total Movements was appointed as the on-shore logistics service provider for transportation of these metro coaches from Mumbai Port to Navi Mumbai Metro Depot, a proper planning and technical study was done for safe execution of this project.

Technical Study includes axle configuration with spacer, trailer stability, and lashing calculations.

The crucial challenges faced were detailed route surveys through the busy roads of Mumbai, deploying numerous specialised trailers at once, the building of temporary roads as none of the main roads had the clearance required for safe movement & coordination with traffic police/multiple government authorities for smooth transportation through the city. Permission was obtained for civil work & the same was executed to avoid any delay in transportation.

All 6 metro coaches were loaded on axles & secured with lashing for safe transportation. Night movement were done to avoid traffic. Unloading of metro coaches was done successfully by aligning 2 cranes with rails at ground level.

With detailed route surveys, swept path analysis, accurate  lifting plans, and seamless coordination, our team managed to overcome the challenges, & delivered the coaches by unloading them on rails.
